Versatile Engine Choices
There are three different engines to choose from. The base engine is a 2.0L EcoBoost®, which offers a commanding 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. It’s perfect for the daily commute and also highway drives. Fuel economy is solid, as well, as this version of the Edge provides an EPA-estimated 21 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. The Edge Sport carries a 2.7L EcoBoost® engine, which delivers 315 horsepower and comes with all-wheel drive.
Auto start-stop technology is standard on the Ford Edge SE 2.0L EcoBoost® FWD model. This works to cut down on fuel consumption and emissions. When the car comes to a stop and idles, the engine will shut off. It will seamlessly get the Edge back in motion when you press down on the accelerator or take your foot off the brake.
Ford Edge Interior
We all spend time inside our vehicles. Some people spend a lot of time, others, perhaps, not so much. Regardless of the amount of time you spend inside the Ford Edge, you’ll be comfortable. Passengers will be, too. The 2018 Edge offers 42.6 inches of front legroom and 40.2 inches of front headroom, so even taller folks around six feet won’t feel cramped.
The 60/40 rear split-folding seat is accessible. Have passengers? Keep the seat up, and you’ll have 39.2 cu. ft. behind the back seat. Want to fold it down for a cargo-only drive? Enjoy 73.4 cu. ft. of cargo space, enough room for hiking gear or bags from the store. If your hands are full while walking towards the vehicle, just wave your foot in front of the rear bumper. The available hands-free liftgate will activate and open, letting you load cargo in without taking the key out of your pocket.
Driver-Focused Infotainment Options
The focus is on you when behind the wheel of the Ford Edge. That much is clear when looking at the infotainment options. The standard 4.2-inch touchscreen and SYNC® technology has Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capability. Just link up a compatible smartphone to the system and play songs, read text messages, and navigate with this easy-to-use tech. The SYNC® 3 system, which is an available feature, comes with a larger 8-inch screen.
The driver assistance set-up keeps you and other drivers safe. The Lane-Keeping System will provide an alert if the Edge is detected to be veering or drifting from the lane it’s in. Active Park Assist, another available feature, can guide the vehicle into a parking spot with just minor input needed from the driver.
