2018 Ford Explorer XLT Review
The well-appointed 2018 Ford Explorer is a car the entire family can enjoy, thanks to its robust cargo space, interior features, and comfortable seating options. While the base model of the Explorer is certainly well-respected, the Ford Explorer XLT trim adds a list of standard and available features which make trips through Lewisville, Denton, and Grapevine a lot easier.
Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford Lewisville features numerous Ford Explorer models on our lot, including the XLT trim. In this review, we’ll take a closer look at the features and options available to drivers.
Ford Explorer XLT Performance and Driving Experience
The standard engine on the Explorer is the 3.5L V6 engine, which is powerful enough for daily trips around town and highway drives alike. This engine receives a respectable EPA-estimated 17 MPG city/24 MPG highway. If you’re looking for better fuel efficiency numbers, the optional 2.3L EcoBoost® engine might make you happier when it comes to filling the gas tank. This engine receives an EPA-estimated 19 MPG city/27 MPG highway.
Life is made easier with the standard Intelligent Access with push-button start. Keep your keys in your pocket, access the Explorer via the keypad, and start the engine at the press of a button. Another driver-friendly available feature is the Reverse Sensing System, which provides a series of beeps to let you know when the vehicle is nearing certain objects.
Inside the Explorer, there’s seating for seven people. The Explorer XLT features a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, 6-way power passenger seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Both driver and front passenger can set the seats to their liking for complete comfort. Meanwhile, the leather wrapped steering wheel provides the driver with better grip when making that next maneuver.
The second-row 60/50 split-fold-flat bench seat comes in handy when it comes to passengers and cargo. Set things up the way you want. You might only have one passenger; fold the seats down and utilize that cargo space for larger items. Have more passengers? Keep the seats up and perhaps only fold down the third row.
The Explorer features standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™. This helps to maintain control when taking on different road conditions like ice, gravel, or rain. Traction control, meanwhile, provides stability by letting you shift into one of four settings to match terrain. Whether you’re heading through mud, sand, gravel, grass, or snow, carry on with confidence.
Available features like the Blind Spot Information System and Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with brake support add to the safety suite in the Explorer XLT. Available Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist is a helpful feature as well. It will let you know when the Explorer is veering from its lane and can gently guide the vehicle back to the lane when necessary.
