2018 Ford Focus Review
It’s time to place your focus on the Focus. The 2018 Ford Focus, that is. This compact car has been a reliable option in the Ford lineup for years, and it’s available here at Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford Lewisville. Even if you’ve read other Ford Focus reviews, we invite you to check out this one to learn more about the car’s performance specs and various features.
Drive in Lewisville, Denton, and Grapevine behind the wheel of the Focus. We’ll begin by discussing vehicle performance, an always-important topic.
The Focus: A Fuel-Conscious Choice
The sporty compact Ford Focus features a base engine which receives an EPA-estimated 25 MPG in the city and 34 MPG on the highway, which makes it a great choice for those looking to save money at the pump. There’s an available 3-cylinder engine in higher trims, which provides even better fuel numbers, checking in at 30 MPG in the city and 40 MPG on the highway.
Going back to the standard 2.0L 4-cylinder engine for a moment, it’s certainly capable of transporting drivers to and from work and for daily errands, providing 160 horsepower. The 2.0L high-output EcoBoost® engine, which comes standard on the Focus ST, delivers 252 horsepower, and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Shift smoothly and feel the power with this capable engine.
Bluetooth® technology is standard in the 2018 Focus, making it easy to take a hands-free phone call or to play music through the audio system. With the available SYNC® 3 system, drivers will be able to outsmart traffic using the Waze app to avoid traffic jams. You’ll also have the power of Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, so it’s easier to interact with your phone. Read text messages, listen to podcasts, or use the navigation features to get to your destination.
The Focus also introduces Ford + Alexa, which brings the capabilities of Amazon Alexa from your home to the roadways. Connect via the SYNC® 3 AppLink for access to voice navigation, traffic information, Amazon Prime shopping, and control smart home devices, too.
Driver Assistive Technology
A rearview camera comes standard, so when you put the car in reverse, an image of what’s happening behind the vehicle will display in the center console on the touchscreen. Driver assistive technology extends to include the Blind Spot Information System, which tracks whether there are vehicles in your blind spot while moving forward or from the sides while backing up.
Utilize the active park assist when in a parallel parking situation. The car will take over to steer you in, while you handle the accelerator, brake, and gear shift as needed. Drifting from your lane? The available Lane-Keeping System will alert you when the car is detected to be drifting and help return the Focus to its proper lane.
