A whole host of new off-road capable features is found on the new 2018 Ford Expedition FX4. The new FX4 Off-Road package includes hardware and technology for improved travel on unpaved surfaces. Off-road tuned shocks, electronic limited-slip rear differential and all terrain tires set the Expedition FX4 model apart from all other city dwelling SUVs.
With an all-new high-strength, aluminum-alloy body and redesigned high-strength steel frame, the 2018 Expedition is lighter and stronger than ever before. It is powered by an efficient 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine, rated at 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. It has an all-new 10-speed transmission and available best-in-class towing of 9,300 pounds.
Inside the Expedition FX4 are comfortable seats for up to eight people with expansive cargo room. Flexible sliding and tilting second row seats allow for easy access to the third row without removing a child safety seat. This new model is also equipped with an easy-to-use Terrain Management system that offers seven different drive modes. Drivers can select from normal, sport, tow/haul, eco, grass/gravel/snow, sand and mud/rut settings.
“The FX4 Off-Road package delivers off-road driving confidence,” said Mike Kipley, Expedition vehicle engineering manager. “The technology we’re using works to adapt to different driving conditions so customers can enjoy the adventure without worry.”
